First Day in Guatemala, Bus Broke Down

Our bus broke down on the way to our first hotel in Guatemala. So there we were stranded at nine o'clock at night in the middle of nowhere, still at least an hour and a half from our hotel. Our bus driver ended up getting a school bus to haul us the rest of the way to the hotel. We had to cram three people to a seat and this bus was not designed for big (average size even) adults, so our knees were squished up against the seat in front of us or had to sit with our legs at a diagonal. It was a wonderful evening bus ride home full of people high on drugs (Preston, who is pictured asleep in between all of the luggage, because he took three Dramamine), people who wanted to throw up and others who were flat out exhausted!!! Fun fun!

The War Begins!

At the Marchant house we don't mess around; War means war!

FHE Marchant style...Dart Gun War!!!

Family home evening activity at our house Monday night was a blast! As you can see by looking at the expressions on everyones' faces, this war was serious business, every man for himself. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. I love my family. They are so much fun!

More Sail Boat pics

These pictures were taken after we had actually gone snorkeling. Snorkeling was by far my favorite adventure that we did on the whole trip. I was absolutely amazed by the incredible creatures and beautiful life that we saw in that tropical aqua water. We snorkeled with sting ray and sharks! We even got to touch a shark, which felt like sand paper, and the sting ray, which felt really smooth and slimy! It was incredible!!!

Snorkeling in Belize!!!

These are pictures of us on the sail boat we sailed on off the coast of Caye Caulker, one the the small islands of Belize. Caye Caulker is only 4 miles long! I even took pictures, as you can see, of our sailing crew, because they were so cool!

La Finca, The Farm

These are pictures from the farm that we stayed at in Guatemala. It was so beautiful. The building shown here is the building that housed our hotel room. The pick nets hanging over our beds are mosquito nets...they made me feel claustrophobic every time they would touch me while I was trying sleep. The pictures at the end were taken after we returned from our 7 or 8 hour hike cave hike. We were way dirty and beyond adequate description of sweaty! It was a blast!

Feeding the Howler Monkeys in Guatemala

We actually fed howler monkeys in the wild! The monkeys would just hang from the trees, clasp our fingers with their whole hand, and eat bananas right out of the palm of our hands! It was incredible. The monkeys were so cute too. I just wanted to pick one up and cradle it like a little baby.

More volcano pictures

The man in the white tank was our guide and his name is Surgio. He had HUGE muscles!!! We were comparing our muscles with his and as you can see our calves look pretty pathetic next to his!
