Funny Fotos in Fall

Heather and I had a little too much fun taking pictures this fall... some of these pictures are self-explanatory, but others just can't be explained! What can I say, we are a little crazy :) I just love her. She makes me laugh.

Disney Themed Playroom Remodel

Mom and I have been talking about possibly redesigning the playroom ever since I was home over the last 9 months. I finally came up with some ideas of what we could do to give the playroom a new feel/look that she will love... which is why we have decided on a Disney theme. She wants it to be "magical!"

New carpeting with 3D circles, panels with different Disney shapes hanging from the ceiling. The panels will be good for space dividors and create great visual interest! Also I have designed a lot of storage units to create more order and provide more space for play. In the back there is a storage unit that has stairs to the left of it. The stairs are for kids to walk up and access behind the storage unit. The stairs provide a platform for kids to walk on in order to reach the toys that will be stored too high for them to reach from the ground; after they have gotten the toys or if they just want an easy fun way down they can ride the slide, which you can see on the far right of the picture. The area behind the panels hanging from the ceiling is for a reading nook. Another idea is to put a flatscreen TV on the panel that is hanging perpendicular to you, which has not shape cut out of it. Maddie and Conner sometimes are not allowed to watch some of the movies that the family watches and this way they could go into the playroom to watch a movie of their liking and still be close to the family while they are watching a movie in the adjacent livingroom.

Carpeting with 3 Dimensional circles for texture and visual appeal. I love this carpet! Mom, it could most likely be done in whatever color you would like for the playroom.

These are the panels I got my inspiration from for the ceiling hung panels I drew in the first sketch. These are just examples of colors and shapes they could be done in, but since we are doing a Disney theme we could design the shapes ourselves and choose whatever colors and materials we want the panels to made of.

I think it would be great to put some additional lighting in the playroom, especially in the reading area. I like the shape of these lights, but they are just to get ideas flowing.

This picture is an overlay ove the first sketch that shows options for wire storage baskets, an idea of where the flatscreen TV could go, the texture of the round area rug, diferent designs in the ceiling hung panels, and pull-out storage brckets under the wire baskets.
This picture is to show the texture of the rug. I think a big round rug with this texture would be perfect for the reading area behind the ceiling hung panels. It's visually stimulating and has a wonderful soft comfortable feel. Let me know what you think....

Let's Play Ball!

ISU Women's Basketball - Allie's First Game

Yesterday Allie had her first division I ball game! Allie is #12 so Heather, Anthony, and I painted her number on our faces in black Halloween face paint for the game. We were so excited to be there!!! We all sat anxiously throughout the game, sitting in the row directly behind the team, listening to the coach as he randomly shouted different players names who were sitting on the bench to call them into the game, waiting for him to call Allie's name. ISU was about 40 points ahead with about 3 minutes left in the game. Just then, without even looking down the bench in Allie's direction, the coach yelled out "Allie!" Allie sat there in disbelief for a second, looking at the coach, and then without a moments delay the coach yelled Allie's name again. Allie was off the bench and had stripped off her warm up shirt quicker than we had time to process what was going on! As she stepped onto the court her little fan club behind the bench erupted with exstatic expressions of craziness!!! I was so happy as I watched her on the court for those 2 1/2 minutes that I almost began to cry. She was on that court playing division I basketball and she looked calm, comfortable, and confident. She is living her dream. Just seeing her on that court almost made me cry. She is amazing! I love her and am so proud of her. A bunch of people thoguht we were twins and asked us about it at the game. Right my twin... surely if anyone saw us play basketball together any thoughts they had of us possibly being twins would fly right out the window! ;)
