Meadow Hot Springs - Southern Utah

Saturday after noon we traveled to a little place outside of Fillmore Utah, which is about two and a half hours south of Salt Lake. We rode along a dirt road for about 3 miles to find some natural hot springs. The location of the springs was crazy and random, literally natural hot pools in the middle of farm land and surrounded by snow covered mountains. There were cows grazing in the field as we entered the farm land in pursuit of the hot springs. Striping down into our bathing suits was SO cold, but diving into the hot pools felt so nice!

There were three hot pots and they each was spaced far from one another. We got out of the first pool after swimming for over an hour and began walking to the second pool. After two minutes of walking we started running, because the ground was so cold that every step on the icy ground felt like needles piercing the bottom of our soles. It was riveting!

The plunge! Get it!

The Joy of Winter!!!

As many of you already know it has been a very dry winter for Salt Lake so far this year, but the snow has finally come! We hit the slopes on Friday to do some snowboarding and we were not disappointed. I love being in the mountains more than almost any other place on earth. I love how peaceful it is at night being surrounded by beautiful white caps and tall overshadowing pines; with only the sounds of nature to break the silence in the crisp night air. I love everything about snowboarding... other than injuries, but for the freedom and invincibility I when I am carving down the mountain on my board or shreading through powder at times, its all worth it! I love it.

It's a Baby Shower!

I used my mom's cute new cricket to make the invitations for Julie's shower over Christmas vacation. I got so excited the first day that I used it I went a little crazy. It's an awesome creative and easy tool. I think I may need to invest in one in the future... when I decide to make the time to start scrapbooking again!

The theme was baby animals, specifically monkeys because Julie loves monkeys. I found these cute little baby animal erasers at Wal-Mart and thought they would be perfect for little cupcake toppers. I only bought 8 baby animals, but they complimented the theme, provided a simple cute accent on the food table, and looked adorable on the pastel yellow and blue cupcakes!

I borrowed this acrylic cupcake tower from my work (Granite Bakery and Bridal). The center pieces of the tower are filled with manderin oranges. The orange was perfect to add a little flare of color and played up the animal theme.

If you know me, you know I love all the little details... so after frosting each cupcake I topped each yellow cupcake with white sprinkles and small glass-looking sugar krystals to give them a little sparkle. They remind me of Cinderella's glass slippers. I love things that sparkle! What girl doesn't?

The chocolate cupcakes with baby blue frosting were also sprinkled with sugar krystals. So simple, but created a little sense of elegance and sophistication to the simplicity of the scene.

I couldn't have done the shower on my own that is for sure! Thank you to everyone who helped with food, decorations, spreading the word about the shower, and for everyone who attended the shower.
Thank you! Thank you!
