First Day in Guatemala, Bus Broke Down

Our bus broke down on the way to our first hotel in Guatemala. So there we were stranded at nine o'clock at night in the middle of nowhere, still at least an hour and a half from our hotel. Our bus driver ended up getting a school bus to haul us the rest of the way to the hotel. We had to cram three people to a seat and this bus was not designed for big (average size even) adults, so our knees were squished up against the seat in front of us or had to sit with our legs at a diagonal. It was a wonderful evening bus ride home full of people high on drugs (Preston, who is pictured asleep in between all of the luggage, because he took three Dramamine), people who wanted to throw up and others who were flat out exhausted!!! Fun fun!
