These pictures are from a last minute trip to Southern Utah to find a little adventure....
This is the rock that I was bouldering up, which means I was climbing up without a harness or any kind of gear, when I grabbed onto the side of a hole and the rock broke off. I was about 15-20 feet up when the rock broke and I lost control and fell to the ground! Luckily my friend Luke was below me when I fell and he caught me and broke my fall as I hit the ground It all happened so fast I didn't even know what was happening when I was falling or when he caught me. It felt pretty surreal. I'm just happy that he caught me and I didn't get hurt, because it definitely could have turned out much worse!
This crack is called a skinny man cave. The rocks form so close to each other that you literally can't fit through parts unless you are as thin as the crack or you have to shimmy up to parts that are a little wider, but then you also run the risk of getting wedged in-between the rock and stuck! I don't think I have ever felt closterphobic before, but when we first entered the crack and I could barely even turn my head from one direction to the other I was feeling a little bit closterphobic. I got over it, kept my head facing one direction most of the time, and just didn't look back and I was fine. It was pretty fun shimmying through the crack... it was a fun little adventure! :)
In this picture Keith is shimming up above the ground to fit through the crack. He is about two or three feet up wedged in-between the two rocks.
Cool rock formations!
